Check Your Fucks At The Door

Wellll hello there you gorgeous badass babe.

Let's talk about fucks and not giving them.

As I've talked about before, today society has a way of telling you who you should be, how you should act, how you should dress, etc. I get it. We struggle with it daily. I always tiptoed around being myself and being the "norm." Well I'm not the norm and I'm certainly not normal. I can't tell you how much it hurts to see women struggle to be themselves in fear of what others may think.

We've been conditioned to be too afraid to speak up and speak out, too afraid to wear that short skirt that makes us feel amazing, too afraid to not like the things everyone else does, and frankly just too afraid. I think now more than ever it's SO important to be ourselves, to be loud, to speak up for what we believe in, to speak out against those things we don't, and to just be your own normal.

I would have liked high school more had I had this attitude then but I didn't. But I have it now and I refuse to squander it. We get caught of these days on how many likes a picture got, our followers on social media, and things that are said about us. We're too caught up in validation when in reality all we need to be validated is ourselves. People lash out on social media on strangers posts because they're broken and not self validating. Strangers and even people you know, cannot validate you and your worth. Only you can do it.

It wasn't until earlier this year that I decided to bring my personal mantra/attitude fully into this business. It was the best thing I've ever done and also the scariest. Did I lose people along the way? Absolutely. I've had customers take time out of their days to email me and tell me how inappropriate the words I'm using are. The first month or so, it would hit me hard right in the gut. Like WOW, I offended them SO much that they took the time out of their busy lives to write me an email and let me know how much I offended them. Then one day it re-clicked, I don't give a shit. Because I am living my truth, and with the 500% growth we've had over the past three months, I'm living your truth too + allowing you to also live it. For every one shitty email, I get 10 women emailing me telling me how I've encouraged them to truly be themselves.

I'm not trying to gloat, I'm trying to show you that you are NOT alone. There are ideals of ladylike of what you do not need to conform to. You're allowed to be yourself. You're allowed to carve your own path in this world.

You're allowed to check your fucks at the door.

So start today. Do something you've been wanting to do but too scared of because of how people may react. Dye your hair, get that tattoo, quit that job you hate, post something controversial. Whatever you do, just be yourself. I promise your life will become far less stressful. The song below, by Lauren Alaina, is one of my favorites right now and it's so fitting for this blog. She says "You won't make yourself a name if you follow the rules. History gets made when you're acting a fool," and it's so true. So go have a listen and then change your life. ♥

Thank you for posting this! I am sooooo tired of seeing everyone be so perfect and not truly themselves. It’s nice to see there are other women who feel the same as I do.

This is perfect. Thank you. It’s taken me a long time to get to the don’t give a fuck state of mind, and it’s so nice here. I hope my girls get here sooner than I did. You rock. Keep it up.
